NARR - Nutrition, combating infection and antibiotic resistance in rehabilitation

The spread of multidrug resistant (MDR) bacterial pathogens in long-term acute-care rehabilitation hospitals (LTACRH) represents an emerging issue associated with a remarkable clinical and economic burden.

The objective of this Research Unit consists in the:

  • epidemiological surveillance of this phenomenon, investigating the diffusion mechanisms and dynamics of MDR pathogens within LTACRH;
  • development of specific protocols for prevention and control of the phenomenon;
  • development of innovative diagnostic workflows for the rapid identification of patients colonized or infected by MDR pathogens in these complex healthcare contexts.
